Book Review: Her Little Flowers by Shannon Morgan

Thanks so much to @kensingtonbooks and @btc_books for the galley of Her Little Flowers by Shannon Morgan–to be published Tuesday July 25th. I tore through this gothic ghost story in a day and a half!

“Francine Thwaite has lived all her fifty-five years in her family’s ancestral home, a rambling Elizabethan manor in England’s Lake District. No other living soul resides there, but Francine isn’t alone. There are ghosts in Thwaite Manor, harmless and familiar. When Francine’s estranged sister, Madeleine, returns to the manor after years away, she brings with her a story that threatens everything Francine has always believed.”

This was creepy and I felt like I was on Francine’s twisty journey with her. As Francine’s repressed memories started coming back in little cloudy puffs, I wasn’t sure what to believe and I was trying to put the pieces together with Francine. And the old manor house set amongst the woods of the Lake District was the perfect setting. Excellent side characters – especially some lovely ones who supported Francine. I really enjoyed this debut. Read now or add to your TBR for a spooky fall read–you won’t regret it.

(I would add: reader know thyself – there are trigger warnings so be sure to look those up if you find that helpful)

About Me

Welcome! I started my career as a children’s librarian, later becoming a public library director and now I’m a stay at home mom. While my career might have changed, my love of reading has been a constant since I was in 4th grade, and I read over 200 books a year. I love talking about books and connecting readers of all ages with just the right book. Thanks for reading!
