Happy Sunday! Deb Nance at Readerbuzz hosts The Sunday Salon, and I’m joining in!
Weekly Reads Round Up: Sunday December 3rd 2023 – Saturday December 9th 2023
I post reviews on Instagram and Goodreads. What have you read this week?
Redwood Court by Délana R. a. Dameron (This work of literary fiction publishes Feb. 6, 2024 and thanks to Dial Press & Thoughts from a Page Podcast Patreon Group, I was able to read a print galley. Review to come soon.)
Stolen Focus: Why You Can’t Pay Attention–And How to Think Deeply Again by Johann Hari (I listened to a copy using my library’s Libby app. I loved the beginning of the book, the middle section on ADHD was incredibly frustrating and I disagreed with a lot, and the ending was just too big for me.)
Paws to Remember (Magical Cats Mystery 15) by Sofie Kelly (I listened to this using my library’s Hoopla app.)
Tilly & the Lost Fairytales (Pages & Co 2) by Anna James (I listened to a copy using my library’s Libby app.)
Theft in Sleepy Hollow (Sophie’s Adventures Book 2) by Nupur Tustin (I read a copy from the author so I can write a review for Kings River Life.)
Starling House by Alix E. Harrow (I read a copy from my shelves.)
Dying to Go (Nothing to Gush About): A Tucson Valley Retirement Community Cozy Mystery by Marcy Blesy (I read an ebook copy.)
What I’m Reading & Listening to Now:
Reading: Lightlark (the Lightlark Saga Book 1) by Alex Aster
Listening:Grave Expectations: A Mystery by Alice Bell
My Life Outside of Books:
December is wearing me out and we are only ten days in! I even missed posting last Sunday. I’ve been working on Christmas shopping and helping various family members and friends who needed a bit extra help the last two weeks.
My daughter has been having extra practice sessions for her upcoming show choir concert – I am so looking forward to that on Monday evening. And I’m so excited about winter break and a chance for less driving around time.
We were able to celebrate my mom’s 78th birthday this month, and I was able to volunteer to help in my son’s PE class when they were doing their archery unit. That was awesome!
3 Good Things:
- Last weekend, my daughter and my mother-in-law went to the Teen Book Festival with the St. Louis County Library and the Novel Neighbor Bookstore. It was SO much fun and I added a billion books to my TBR. All I want to do is sit by the Christmas tree and read.
- Yesterday we took our darling doggo to see Santa and after several attempts we got the cutest picture.
- Despite being busy, we have had some great family movie nights including watching Home Alone which was the first time for my 9 year old. He laughed so hard he almost fell out of his chair.
