The Sunday Salon: December 24, 2023

Happy Sunday! Deb Nance at Readerbuzz hosts The Sunday Salon, and I’m joining in!

Weekly Reads Round Up: Sunday December 17th 2023 – Saturday December 23rd 2023

I post reviews on Instagram and Goodreads. What have you read this week?

Murder Under the Mistletoe (A Jane Wunderly Mystery) by Erica Ruth Neubauer (I read a copy on my Kindle. 5 star Christmas read. I adore this historical mystery series and this was just the Christmas treat I wanted. Christmas-time, an English manor house and murder? Yes please. Strong mystery, wonderful characters and arm-chair travel setting. )

Legends & Lattes: A Novel of High Fantasy and Low Stakes by Travis Baldree (I listened to this using my library’s Libby app. Delightfully cozy! The hype was well deserved.)

Faking Christmas by Kerry Winfrey (I read a copy from my shelves. I adored this. Perfect for lovers of Hallmark Christmas movies looking for great banter and Christmas cheer. So much fun. 5 sparkly Christmas trees for this! )

The Curse of Penryth Hall by Jess Armstrong (I listened to a copy using my library’s Hoopla app. Review linked below.)

Pages & Co.: The Map of Stories, Book 3 by Anna James (Author)  Paola Escobar (Illustrator) (I listened to a copy using my library’s Libby app. This is such a wonderful middle-grade series perfect for booklovers of all ages.)

Familia: A Riveting and Unforgettable Novel of Sisterhood by Lauren E. Rico (I read a galley copy from the publisher. Review linked below.)

What I’m Reading & Listening to Now:

Reading: The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon

Listening: I’m about to start The Scandalous Confessions of Lydia Bennet, Witch by Melinda Taub

Life:

What a busy month! I do love that the kids are on break and the schedule slows down. We’ve clocked some fun family time, some reading time and some movie time. Looking forward to more of this during the upcoming week.

Today we celebrate my daughter’s birthday! 13! Looking forward to family and cake, of course!

3 Good Things:

  1. It was warm enough one day this week that I met a friend for a picnic lunch and it was a wonderful break during a busy season.
  2. I had two of my dearest friends over for breakfast on Friday and loved every minute of it.
  3. My daughter celebrated her birthday with a slumber party and listening to them laugh and laugh was such fun.

About Me

Welcome! I started my career as a children’s librarian, later becoming a public library director and now I’m a stay at home mom. While my career might have changed, my love of reading has been a constant since I was in 4th grade, and I read over 200 books a year. I love talking about books and connecting readers of all ages with just the right book. Thanks for reading!
