The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings or a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.
Question:
How long have you gone without reading? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)
Answer:
In recent memory, I believe the longest I have gone without reading was for several weeks in March 2020, right after everything shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I remember being unable to focus, glued to the news and not being able to use books as an escape. At the time I stumbled upon this article from School Library Journal Reading Joy in the Time of Coronavirus by Donalyn Miller (Apr 10, 2020) and felt reassurance that I wasn’t alone. It was an arc of Mary Kay Andrews’ Hello, Summer that broke my slump.
