Sounds simple. Should be simple. It’s anything but simple.
Maggie suddenly finds her pink convertible repossessed, her condo being foreclosed on, and her every minute spent studying for a CDL to pass a test that will allow her to drive an eighteen-wheeler truck across the state. Oh wait, not to mention that someone is apparently out to get something from her father’s trucking company, even if they have to go through her first.
Can Maggie steer clear of danger long enough to make her first delivery deadline or will there be more roadblocks than she can handle?
Clocking in at only 181 pages, Magpie Maggie Takes the Wheel is an absolute five star delight! It’s a fast-paced mystery full of humor and adventure, and Maggie is definitely a character I rooted for. She may have been floating through her life, shopping and spending her father’s money, but now faced with a big challenge, she’s all in, and I love that about her. There’s something so fun about watching a character grow-up with grace and humor.
Speaking of humor, there are definitely some laugh out loud scenes, as well as some suspenseful scenes. The way these two elements are woven together so seamlessly is pretty impressive, especially for such a short book!
I could also easily visualize the setting, especially Maggie’s new living arrangements, and I am super excited that she has gained a side-kick (no spoilers here!).
I just pre-ordered book two in the Longhorn Trucking Series, Magpie Maggie Takes the Heat, which will be published on April 19, 2024, because I want to keep up with Maggie’s life!
Highly recommend Magpie Maggie Takes the Wheel for cozy readers who want a short, fun treat!
