About the Book:

A string of murdered scientists baffles the FBI cold case unit. A brilliant NASA researcher is found dead. What’s a savvy amateur sleuth to do but take matters into her own hands?

As the small town of Drifters Cove buzzes with excitement over the grand reopening of the vintage Starlight Theater and the arrival of Sammy’s Sideshow Spectacular, Lilly’s solidifying her team at Magnolia Manor with Marine vet Brian and sassy Gertrude.

With FBI Lead Agent Armstrong still questioning Lilly’s contribution to the cold case team, she’s extra determined to use her analytical skills to crack their latest the MENSA Murders.

Meanwhile, wanting to give her professor friend, Dr. Bellamy, a break from the rigors of academia, Lilly invites him and his colleagues—including the beautiful and seductive Dr. Amber Jolie—to the inn for a relaxing getaway.

As love blossoms and danger looms, Lilly digs into the MENSA murders, unearthing a web of dirty dealings…and a brilliant, murderous secret . With the clock ticking, Lilly races to unmask the murderer before she—or someone close to her—becomes the next victim.

My Review:

I am happy to be back with Lilly and Gert and the rest of a wonderful cast of characters at Magnolia Manor. Readers are once again in for a page-turning treat that can be finished in just one or two reading sessions. For a mystery that is about 160 pages long, Joy skillfully fills each page with twists and turns as well as cozy details.

I love Lilly’s tenacity – to be a civilian consultant on a local FBI team is no easy feat, especially since the lead agent isn’t too excited by Lilly’s presence. Her mind works quickly, processing details and connecting clues. I love seeing this side of her balanced with her inn owning side.

Gert remains a hoot and the perfect foil to Lilly’s thoughtful personality. I love that the inn workers and permanent guests work together to support Lilly’s hunches and to keep everyone safe.

The ending scene was jaw dropping, and I was very happy to see where the romance for Anne was headed.

Another great entry into an entertaining series.
