Here are four books I read and loved in April 2025. It was a great reading month…and I’m now in a reading slump…being a bookworm is weird 🤷🏼♀️
In April 2025, I read 29 books, 14 of those as audiobooks. A list of all the title I read is posted at the bottom.
The Love Elixir of Augusta Stern by Lynda Cohen Loigman
Historical fiction with a lovely storyline of romance as well. A dual timeline story, alternating between 1920s Brooklyn and 1980s Florida. The story flows beautifully, unraveling the story of how our main character Augusta came to be so adrift at almost 80 years of age. Add in just a little bit of magical realism and mystery and you have yourself an unputdownable story. A story about the beauty of second chances and the belief that we can always start over, no matter our age.
Vera Wong’s Guide to Snooping by Jesse Q. Sutanto
Book two in a series, page-turning mystery, excellent as an audiobook, includes found-family and so much love and care. I loved having all the characters, but especially Vera in my ears. She’s still Vera, but more reflective, and I want to hug her and shake her at the same time. I listened in one day.
Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez
Every time I read a book by Jimenez I think “THIS is my favorite book.” How does she do it? She’s so funny and thoughtful and balances the beauty and hardships of life so perfectly. I finished this book the week it came out, hugged and still think about it.
No More Tears: The Dark Secrets of Johnson & Johnson by Gardiner Harris
Page-turning nonfiction, totally disturbing read on the history of a well-known company. I only knew just a little about this company and let me tell you, my eyes are WIDE open now. Big money leads to corruption which leads to pain and disaster for so many. I highly recommend, but whoosh…it is hard to listen to because it is so upsetting.
