Way Back Cozy Wednesday: May 2025 Edition

On the third Wednesday of each month, I’ll feature a cozy mystery I read long ago. Backlist titles make my heart sing and hopefully you’ll find some new to you reads for your cozy TBR. This month we’re going back to the year 2014.

Town in a Strawberry Swirl (A Candy Holliday Mystery #5)

by B.B. Haywood

300 pages, Mass Market Paperback, First published February 4, 2014

About the Book:

In the quaint seaside village of Cape Willington, Maine, Candy Holliday has a mostly idyllic life, tending to the Blueberry Acres farm she runs with her father and occasionally stepping in to solve a murder or two…

Summer has arrived! But as the community gears up for another festive strawberry-picking season, the villagers are shocked when local berry farmer Miles Crawford is found dead in a hoophouse near his strawberry fields. Rumors have been swirling around about a secret real estate deal between Miles and Lydia St. Graves. And now Lydia is missing after she was seen fleeing the scene of the crime…

When Henry “Doc” Holliday becomes involved in the mystery, his daughter Candy finds herself caught in the jam as well. But things turn very sticky when Lydia suddenly reappears and asks for Candy’s help in finding the true murderer…

INCLUDES DELICIOUS RECIPES!

My Thoughts:

I loved being reminded of this read when I went to search for a book to post. I read this series when my son was born in 2014. I figured out how to prop up an ipad mini and read while holding a baby who was always hungry!

And I just realized I have two books to go back and read to complete this series! A wonderful culinary series with a delightful setting in beautiful Maine.

About the Author:

B. B. Haywood is a pseudonym of writing team Beth Feeman and Robert Feeman. They conceived the idea for the Candy Holliday mysteries while driving around the Maine countryside, stopping at different small towns throughout the state.

About Me

Welcome! I started my career as a children’s librarian, later becoming a public library director and now I’m a stay at home mom. While my career might have changed, my love of reading has been a constant since I was in 4th grade, and I read over 200 books a year. I love talking about books and connecting readers of all ages with just the right book. Thanks for reading!
