🎆 Happy 4th of July – Cozy Mystery Style: A Book List ðŸŽ†

It’s that time of summer again – the 4th of July. While we don’t do much to celebrate (it is too hot for parades!), and I prefer to view fireworks on my TV from the comfort of my recliner, I do love a chance to read seasonally. Here’s a list of cozy mysteries set around the 4th – two I have read and a few that are on my TBR. We all need cozy mysteries, don’t we?

Knee High by the 4th of July (A Murder-by-month Mystery Romcom, Book 3) by Jess Lourey

This was a lot of fun! I was listening while grocery shopping and found myself snort laughing as I selected produce. Readers who enjoy Stephanie Plum mysteries should pick this up. It’s adventurous and hilarious and Mira is the town librarian and a reporter for the local newspaper. What more could you ask for? While I haven’t read the first two books in the series, I had no issue keeping up. Although this was just so funny and fun that I will most certainly be working my way back to books one and two and there are 12 (.5) in the whole series. Yes please!!! Set in summertime, this makes for a great summer read.

Gone with the Whisker (Bookmobile Cat Mystery, Book 8) by Laurie Cass

I have been reading the Bookmobile Cat Mystery series by Laurie Cass since the beginning. This is one of my favorite librarian/library themed cozy mysteries. Once again, Minnie takes the investigation of a local murder into her own hands and using her lovely people and librarian skills, makes more headway than anyone in town. I love Minnie–she’s fun and kind and fits in perfectly with the small town cast of characters. The glimpses of behind the scenes library life are accurate and fun to read. Such a fun series.

TBR:

Fourth of July Forgery (Holiday Cozy Mystery, Book 6) by Tonya Kappes

Oh Say Can You Fudge (Candy-Coated Mysteries, Book 3) by Nancy CoCo

Dead, White, and Blue (Death on Demand, Book 23) by Carolyn G. Hart

Sweet Tea and Secrets (A Tea and Read Mystery, Book 2) by Joy Avon

A Catered Fourth of July (A Mystery with Recipes, Book 10) by Isis Crawford

Dead, White, and Blue (Northwood Mysteries, Book 2) by Annie McEwen

About Me

Welcome! I started my career as a children’s librarian, later becoming a public library director and now I’m a stay at home mom. While my career might have changed, my love of reading has been a constant since I was in 4th grade, and I read over 200 books a year. I love talking about books and connecting readers of all ages with just the right book. Thanks for reading!
