Way Back Cozy Wednesday: October 2025 Edition

On the third Wednesday of each month, I’ll feature a cozy mystery I read long ago. Backlist titles make my heart sing and hopefully you’ll find some new to you reads for your cozy TBR. This month we’re going back to the year 2018.

Buried in a Book (Novel Idea, Book 1) by Lucy Arlington
285 pages
Published February 7, 2012 by Berkley Publishing Group

After losing her job as a journalist at the age of forty-five, Lila Wilkins accepts an internship at A Novel Idea, a thriving literary agency in North Carolina. Being paid to read seems perfect to Lila, although it’s difficult with the cast of quirky co-workers and piles of query letters. But when a penniless aspiring author drops dead in the agency’s waiting room-and Lila discovers a series of threatening letters-she’s determined to find out who wrote him off.

Lucy Arlington is the pen name of New York Times bestselling author Susan Furlong. The concept for the Novel Idea Mysteries was originally created by the New York Times bestselling authors Ellery Adams and Sylvia May. Together, they penned the first three books of the series.

About Me

Welcome! I started my career as a children’s librarian, later becoming a public library director and now I’m a stay at home mom. While my career might have changed, my love of reading has been a constant since I was in 4th grade, and I read over 200 books a year. I love talking about books and connecting readers of all ages with just the right book. Thanks for reading!
