Weekly Reads Round Up: Favorite Read of the Week

A Family for Louie by Alexandra Thompson

I wanted to hug every page of this heartwarming picture book about wonderful Louie looking for a just right fit family. The illustrations are adorable and detailed and the feelings behind them just pour out. Such a great picture book to share during the month of love or anytime.

What I’m Reading & Listening to Now:

Reading: Books & Bewitchment (Arcadia Falls 1) by Isla Jewell

Listening: Little House in the Big Woods (Little House #1) by Laura Ingalls Wilder, Garth Williams (Illustrator)

Week in Review:

It was a busy week and then my daughter came home early Wednesday not feeling well. The flu has entered our house. All plans for the four day weekend were tossed so the focus could be on rest and recuperation. She is feeling better.

Our school district had an employee night at a local bookstore so I did sneak out for that. It was nice to have Friday off so everyone could rest. No school Monday either. I’m off to my last knitting class this morning and then meeting some friends for lunch. Hoping to see my mom later today as well.

Our Valentine’s Day tradition is that everyone gets a book and a box of chocolate. The teenager got a Choose Your Own Adventure Stranger Things, the middle schooler got a book about the history of Marvel Comics, the husband got Michael J Fox’s new book (Future Boy) and I received The Firebrand and the First Lady: Portrait of a Friendship: Pauli Murray, Eleanor Roosevelt, and the Struggle for Social Justice.

Otherwise it’s been the regular weekend chores of cleaning, laundry, and grocery shopping.

Something I’m Looking Forward To:

Looking ahead, it’s a busy week next week with the opening of the musical at the high school. Otherwise the schedule looks typical with work and driving the youths where they need to be.

About Me

Welcome! I started my career as a children’s librarian, later becoming a public library director and now I’m a stay at home mom. While my career might have changed, my love of reading has been a constant since I was in 4th grade, and I read over 200 books a year. I love talking about books and connecting readers of all ages with just the right book. Thanks for reading!
