2023 Reading Challenges Update
This year was the first year I used a separate journal to track my reading. Being a book nerd, I also still use a spreadsheet, but I really enjoyed keeping the journal. There’s something relaxing about using different color pens and writing by hand. I update the journal as I finish a book and then… Continue reading

How To Read More
I’m a fast reader. I don’t do many things quickly (hello! Math!), but I do read quickly. As a result, I read a lot. I am frequently asked how I read so much. If you’re looking for ways to add more reading into your life, I am happy to share what works for me. I… Continue reading

Long Books I’ve Been Meaning To Read
I love the idea of big, chunky books with lots of pages to sink into, but lately I’ve noticed that I’ve been avoiding them. Is it that I’m too focused on the number of books I read and think a long book will slow me down? I’m not sure, but I’d like to push myself… Continue reading

We are wrapping up our second week of school and the “official” end of summer hits Monday with the Labor Day holiday. Last week was brutally hot with heat indexes over 100 degrees. No recess for my elementary schooler, which you know had to be brutal for the teachers too! We got a lovely break… Continue reading

Themed Reading: Back to School in Books
It’s that season–back to school. We have had a great summer in our house, and while I do love the routine and structure the school year provides, I am a little sad to let the lazy and fun days of summer go. One plus of school starting is the fun reading that’s in store for… Continue reading

About Me
Welcome! I started my career as a children’s librarian, later becoming a public library director and now I’m a stay at home mom. While my career might have changed, my love of reading has been a constant since I was in 4th grade, and I read over 200 books a year. I love talking about books and connecting readers of all ages with just the right book. Thanks for reading!
