Cozy Fall Reads: Not Too Scary

I love Fall and the spooky season, but it just can’t be too spooky for me. A little mystery, a little intrigue, and I’m all in. Add gore or horror and I’m out. Way way out. I wouldn’t sleep for weeks!

But not everyone is like that–some folks love to be scared! Here’s an interesting interview from October 2022 NPR Weekend Edition: Why do we like horror? I get it…but I still can’t bring myself to read or watch anything that scary! (Also, I found it fascinating that there are fear researchers!)

So if you’re like me, this is the book list for you!

I’ve put together a list of cozy Fall reads and divided it into two parts: books I’ve read and books I’m looking forward to reading this October. What’s missing? What are you looking forward to reading this fall?

Cozy Fall Books I’ve Read:

A Skeleton in the Family by Leigh Perry

The Ghostly Grounds: Murder and Breakfast (A Canine Casper Cozy Mystery—Book 1) by Sophie Love

High Spirits by Carol J. Perry

Bait and Witch by Angela M. Sanders

A Potion to Die For by Heather Blake

Under Lock & Skeleton Key: A Secret Staircase Mystery by Gigi Pandian

About Me

Welcome! I started my career as a children’s librarian, later becoming a public library director and now I’m a stay at home mom. While my career might have changed, my love of reading has been a constant since I was in 4th grade, and I read over 200 books a year. I love talking about books and connecting readers of all ages with just the right book. Thanks for reading!
