Book Review: Overdue or Die by Allison Brook

I just love The Haunted Library Mystery series by Allison Brook (pen name for Marilyn Levinson). Thank you to Netgalley and Crooked Lane Books for the ARC of book seven, Overdue or Die, available today Oct. 10. If you’re a cozy mystery fan and a library lover, be sure to pick up this series–it’s like a warm hug with a little dash of murder and romance.

Librarian Carrie Singleton lives in the small town of Clover Ridge with her fiancé Dylan Avery. She’s busy the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving overseeing the library’s new programming wing and finding the perfect venue for her wedding. Then Martha Mallory is found murdered in her art gallery and Carrie just can’t stay away from finding out who is guilty.

A great mystery and cozy details made this a perfect fall reading escape. I love the ghost element with Evelyn, the library’s ghost who only Carrie can see. There’s a wonderful cast of characters and a handful of seedy suspects that I wasn’t sure who to pin the crime on.  It’s a charming read, perfect for this time of year for those of us who like suspense but no gore.

About Me

Welcome! I started my career as a children’s librarian, later becoming a public library director and now I’m a stay at home mom. While my career might have changed, my love of reading has been a constant since I was in 4th grade, and I read over 200 books a year. I love talking about books and connecting readers of all ages with just the right book. Thanks for reading!
