Weekly Reads Round Up: Favorite Read of the Week

Such a frustrating reading week — I couldn’t settle into anything and tried five different books. My focus was off and I just felt eh about everything I tried. Sure hoping this week beats the slump, as the lack of reading impacts my mood. I’ll happily take any suggestions for beating a reading slump. Since my reading felt broken, I did start watching Rooster on HBO Max and it is good.
What I’m Reading & Listening to Now:

Reading: Candy Corn Murder (Lucy Stone #22) by Leslie Meier
Listening: The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion: Vol. 8 by Beth Brower
BIG Book Slow But Steady: North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell (page 74 out of 521)
Week in Review:
Lots of fun back at school this week seeing all of the classes and our library regulars. Kids say the funniest things. Our librarian was reading a book to kindergarten, when a third grade friend came to check out – he turned to me and said “I remember reading that book.” [pause, then taps the desk and says:] “Good times, good times.”
We also learned this week that our daughter gets to play the part of Mina Murray in her school’s production of “Dracula.” Can’t wait to see this on stage!
Horribly hot all week – really wish that would go away!
Something I’m Looking Forward To:
Excited to have a Monday off this week. I have a volunteer meeting one evening this week and then book club next weekend. Now if I can just fix my reading, I’ll be all set.
