☕The Sunday Salon: October 11, 2026 🎃

Happy Sunday! Thanks to Deb Nance at Readerbuzz for hosting The Sunday Salon.

Weekly Reads Round Up: Favorite Read of the Week

Tears of the Giraffe (No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, #2) by Alexander McCall Smith – I’m so glad I’ve discovered this backlist series. It is exactly what I need in my ears during this busy days with very little time to sit down and read. The mysteries are straight forward yet engrossing and there’s a slice of life feel to the writing that I can easily escape in to. There’s also a sense of common goodness and love between people that I find comforting.

What I’m Reading & Listening to Now:

Reading: Live Laugh Love: The Secret History of White Christian Women and the World They Made by Kristin Kobes Du Mez

Listening: Drake Hall (The Secrets of Ormdale #2) by Christina Baehr

Week in Review:

I blinked and this week went by! Our daughter had tech week for the school play and then homecoming last night. I had a long list of adulting tasks so felt like I hardly sat down to read or work on cross stitch.

Something I’m Looking Forward To:

Today we will select our pumpkins which I always love. Tomorrow we celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary…by attending parent teacher conferences at the high school, ha! Middle school parent teacher conferences are Tuesday and the school play begins through the weekend. We don’t have school Friday so that is a lovely pause in the midst of busy busy!

  1. The week really did fly by! Hope you enjoying Drake Hall; I did stop reading the series for a bit and haven’t decided whether to resume, after a bit of a weird/tone-deaf bit set in Wales, but I thought the first couple of books were a lot of fun.

About Me

Welcome! I started my career as a children’s librarian, later becoming a public library director and now I’m a stay at home mom. While my career might have changed, my love of reading has been a constant since I was in 4th grade, and I read over 200 books a year. I love talking about books and connecting readers of all ages with just the right book. Thanks for reading!
