My Life Outside of Books:

The weather has been beautiful this past week and the bright blue skies and fall colors really lift the spirits.

I worked on my #NaNoWriMo project more this week. I decided to outline the rest because I was worried I would forget the ideas I had floating in my head. I’m looking forward to getting back into writing this week.

This week is busy with a capital B. In addition to regular life, there are parent teacher conferences, my daughter’s play, and my son and I are taking our yellow belt Taekwondo test. Lots of driving and doing. Looking forward to a quieter week of Thanksgiving.

Reading Challenge Updates:

I wrote a post about my 2023 reading challenges and book journal! Do you like reading challenges? How do you track your reads?

3 Good Things:

  1. Our oven’s “mother-board” went kaput and the part has finally come in, but the soonest they could get a technician out was the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. I was frantically making a plan b in my mind when they called back to say they had a cancellation for this Tuesday. Yes!
  2. I took my daughter to see her friends in a local production of Frozen and it was a delightful evening! It was one of those nights where we had so many things before the production, that we ended up grabbing Starbucks and eating lunchables in the car for dinner. It was such a fun time to catch up. And the musical was SO good. It was worth staying up late for that one.
  3. I’m so thankful for my neighbor friends. My daughter will be in a local production of Singin’ in the Rain this coming week and we needed to practice fixing her hair. As a short-haired person, I was so out of my element. I texted a neighbor friend who immediately responded, “I’m coming.” An hour later I had a page of notes, products for pick up at Target, how to videos and a sense of calm.

Wishing everyone a happy week filled with good bookish vibes!

  1. I jumped over and read your post about your book journal since I loooooove book journals and trackers. I usually keep both a physical book journal and a spreadsheet as well. I think the spreadsheet I use is the one done by Book Riot. Lemme look at it. One second… Yep. Book Riot. They use Google Sheets.

  2. I hope that your daughter is excited to be in this production! I love live theatre and love to see children and youth involved. I hope your week isn’t too busy. Have a great one!

I’ve been enjoying the fall colors too! It is uplifting to stop and appreciate the beauty all around. How exciting to be taking Taekwondo! What a great way to stay active. Must be very challenging, too. Love your 3 good things! Awesome about the oven being fixed in time for Thanksgiving and what a lovely neighbor! Have a wonderful week, Sarah!

  4. When I was a ballet-mom I felt the same way when I helped my daughter with her buns. I’d never done one before she needed one for class and all the productions.

  5. Congrats on the NaNoWriMo progress! My process includes lots of outlining for the same reason. My mind isn’t always on the scene at hand, it throws me thoughts about much later ones.

I love your story about a friend coming to the rescue for a hair-do.

  6. I read Geared for the Grave a few years ago and loved it.

I do enjoy reading challenges. I just keep track of them on my blog.

Hope you have a great week!

You do have a busy week ahead of you. And thank goodness for people who can help us with things we are not good at!

About Me

Welcome! I started my career as a children’s librarian, later becoming a public library director and now I’m a stay at home mom. While my career might have changed, my love of reading has been a constant since I was in 4th grade, and I read over 200 books a year. I love talking about books and connecting readers of all ages with just the right book. Thanks for reading!
