Life:

What a cold week! The three day weekend was extended with a snow day on Tuesday. Too cold to go outside so we made chocolate chip cookies and chex mix and didn’t get out of our pjs. I couldn’t do that everyday, but it felt nice. I started daydreaming about summer.

I took care of several adult tasks for myself, my aunt and my mom this week–why does life involve so much paperwork? And why is so much of it so confusing?

3 Good Things:

One: Today my daughter spent the day at an honor choir festival for middle school students. It was at a local high school north of us and included kids from schools all over the suburban area. We got to go at the end of the performance and it was outstanding. Kids really boggle the mind–they learned four songs in one day.

Two: I spent Friday reading and it was amazing. I have a long list of items on my TBR and it felt amazing to simply take the time.

Three: I love podcasts and I love it when I find a new to me podcast. I stumbled upon The British Food History Podcast a few weeks ago. It’s interesting and cozy, with a dash of humor.

  2. Everyone has the same reaction to the weather all over the country: how can it be so cold?! From Texas north, east, and west it’s frigid!
I don’t even know where you are and you could be in half the states. I hope you warm up sooon.

  3. I see some older cozies on your list. Ones that I never got to myself. Hope you are enjoying them.

I heard about The Expectant Detective elsewhere. Off to see what you thought of it.

  4. I like the idea of The Expectant Detectives. I wonder how they can have a long series, though, unless the detectives solve a lot of crimes very quickly.

Yes, it has been so cold here, too. Today it will be gray and gloomy—I’ll have to force myself to get out of the house!

So many in the country had frigid temperatures. Sounds like you made the best of it and enjoyed some cozy time inside. I love The Lady Darby series!

I seem to be collecting all of the Lady Darby mysteries, but haven’t read them yet. I have read the first book in Anna Lee Huber’s other series though, which I really liked. It just seems like a series I will love and I really should make room for it. I hope you enjoyed The Expectant Detectives. That one sounds good.

I will be curious to hear what you think of The Bookbinder’s Guide to Love. I have that one on my wish list. The title alone makes me want to read that one!

I love PJ days! I don’t get to do that too often, but it’s nice when I can. The honor choir festival sounds fun!

I hope you have a wonderful week, Sarah. Happy reading!

Welcome! I started my career as a children’s librarian, later becoming a public library director and now I’m a stay at home mom. While my career might have changed, my love of reading has been a constant since I was in 4th grade, and I read over 200 books a year. I love talking about books and connecting readers of all ages with just the right book. Thanks for reading!
