Double Grudge Donuts is book eight in Ginger Bolton’s Deputy Donut cozy mystery series and fans will be delighted with this latest whodunit!
It’s summer and Emily’s wedding is in two weeks! Before the happy day, the town is celebrating the Fallingbrook Arts Festival–a week-long series. The musical acts start off lovely and a musician playing the bagpipes takes first prize. Unfortunately, the man isn’t a gracious winner and begins standing near other performances to interrupt with his bagpipes. This annoys musicians and viewers alike. And then he takes it up another notch and roams around town playing the bagpipes in the middle of the night. Only days later, though, Emily finds the man murdered. His body is surrounded by crucial evidence, including a broken piece of a mug from. Deputy Donut. The list of suspects is long, but Emily is determined to resolve this so her wedding can go on.
I love being back in Fallingbrook with Emily and her lovely family and friends. I wish so much I could visit her Deputy Donut Shop, taste one of those amazing treats and pet Little Dep. Ginger has such a lovely way of writing that brings the town and characters to life. This entry into the long-running series featured an especially twisty mystery and so many possible suspects that I found myself distrusting everyone Emily questioned! And no spoilers here, but there is a scene towards the end that had me gripping the book so tightly–it is a nailbiter!
