My Review:

The Wilderness Trap is book five in Jodi Linton’s Southwest Exposure Mysteries. Readers can read this as a standalone title if they are new to the series. This was my introduction to the series and I will certainly be making my way through the backlist titles as this was such a fun read. (Kindle Unlimited members note that this series is part of your offerings!) This would be a great series to read over Spring or Summer break as armchair travel.

Andie Sullivan, as the owner of Sullivan’s Adventure Company, is scheduled to present at the local elementary school’s career day. Unfortunately for Andie, her old nemesis is now the teacher in charge of career day. Neither are too pleased and then students start asking questions about Andie’s previous crime-solving and the teacher gets madder and madder. The woman is later found murdered and Andie and her wonderful sleuthing crew take on the hunt.

Clocking in at just 135 pages, this was such an entertaining read that I flew through in one sitting. Its humor and wonderful characters reminded me of the Sunshine Vicram Series by Darynda Jones. Andie’s handsome boyfriend Sheriff Zac Mars is perfectly accepting of Andie – can more boyfriends of amateur sleuths be like this, please? Andie’s brother Kyle and best friend Vivian have great banter and I wanted to be friends with them both. I also so enjoyed how a cold case (that readers learned about in the intense opening chapters) was woven into the present day mystery. An entertaining mystery with lots of twists and turns. I look forward to reading more!

About the Book:

Explore nature, where the outdoors are wild, the tourists are clueless, and murder is the new adventure.

Andie Sullivan never thought her old nemesis would be running the elementary school career day. She was supposed to be discussing the wonders of nature, but when questions arise about her crime-solving side gig, some of the locals aren’t impressed.

But when career day turns into an actual murder, Andie finds herself on the case. And to make matters worse, the victim is her old nemesis. With the help of her hunky boyfriend, Sheriff Zac Mars, Andie dives into the investigation, determined to find the killer before they strike again.

Can she juggle her thriving outdoor business, her budding relationship with Zac, and find an elusive killer? Or will her pursuit of the truth lead her straight into the crosshairs of a ruthless killer.

About Me

Welcome! I started my career as a children’s librarian, later becoming a public library director and now I’m a stay at home mom. While my career might have changed, my love of reading has been a constant since I was in 4th grade, and I read over 200 books a year. I love talking about books and connecting readers of all ages with just the right book. Thanks for reading!
