BOOK REVIEW: Promises and Politics, Another Murder by Christa Nardi (A Sheridan Hendley Mystery Book 11)

I’m happy to share a review of the latest entry in this series: Promises and Politics, Another Murder by Christa Nardi (A Sheridan Hendley Mystery  Book 11) This is my first time experiencing the series, and I can assure readers that they can easily read this as a standalone. However, my guess is new readers will be excited to get their hands on books 1-10, as book 11 was an excellent read.

Promises and Politics, Another Murder

by Christa Nardi

(A Sheridan Hendley Mystery Book 11)

“A small town, a murder, a fraternity, and a tangled web of people, politics, and lies. When Senator Marcus Thornton is killed at an engagement party in his hometown, amateur sleuth Sheridan Hendley is drawn into the investigation alongside her detective husband.”

This was a page-turning mystery with solid plotting and descriptive writing. I felt like I was with Sheridan as she went about her days and her sleuthing. The writing is true to life, without any gore of true crime. I loved Sheridan’s partnership with her husband. There’s a side plot that includes Sheridan volunteering at an animal shelter, which makes me admire her even more as a main character. And it’s creative plotting that ties this side plot into the bigger story. There’s lots of clues that Sheridan must sort through, some twists and some intense scenes that had me quickly turning the pages. A great read for mystery fans!

About Me

Welcome! I started my career as a children’s librarian, later becoming a public library director and now I’m a stay at home mom. While my career might have changed, my love of reading has been a constant since I was in 4th grade, and I read over 200 books a year. I love talking about books and connecting readers of all ages with just the right book. Thanks for reading!
