☕The Sunday Salon: June 28, 2026 ☀️

Happy Sunday! Thanks to Deb Nance at Readerbuzz for hosting The Sunday Salon.

Weekly Reads Round Up: Favorite Read of the Week

Family of Spies by Christine Kuehn — Oooo this was fascinating! I can’t even imagine getting a letter in the mail that unravels everything you thought you knew about your family history. So well researched and well done – balancing fact with emotion. A great listen.

What I’m Reading & Listening to Now:

Reading: Home of the American Circus by Allison Larkin

Listening:The Forget-Me-Not Library by Heather Webber

BIG Book Slow But Steady: Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry  (Chapter 54, page 463)

Week in Review:

We checked off a few appointments and meetings this week. It was a bit of a rainy and humid week. We celebrated Father’s Day and were able to get the cook-out in by rescheduling to avoid the rain. I saw lots of kids from school in a kids version of Frozen on Friday afternoon. They did such a great job and I was so proud of them! And I keep humming the songs! I’m writing this Saturday and we are supposed to head to the Muny this evening to see Shrek. I hope the rain stays away. We also have book club Sunday night.

(The Muny is a St. Louis institution – “Established in 1919, The Muny in Forest Park is America’s oldest and largest outdoor musical theatre. Conceived during a massive 1914 city pageant, it was championed by then-Mayor Henry Kiel to bring the arts to the public. The theatre uniquely preserved its defining feature—two massive, living oak trees—on the stage throughout its history.” Learn more here.)

Something I’m Looking Forward To:

I’ve got two meetings for the middle school parent group this week, and a bone destiny test – will be happy to check that off the to do list. It’s supposed to be super hot this coming week. Hoping for pool time and reading time. We also hope to visit the history museum to see updated World’s Fair exhibits and others.

  1. Those first two audio books sound good – I’ve been looking for some new titles. And I love theatre any way I can get it! My son is currently working on the musical version of Freaky Friday and a play of Pride and Prejudice 🙂

About Me

Welcome! I started my career as a children’s librarian, later becoming a public library director and now I’m a stay at home mom. While my career might have changed, my love of reading has been a constant since I was in 4th grade, and I read over 200 books a year. I love talking about books and connecting readers of all ages with just the right book. Thanks for reading!
