Weekly Reads Round Up: Favorite Read of the Week

The Fairy Tale Girl (Susan Branch’s Memoirs #1) by Susan Branch

I stumbled upon this memoir when I was browsing the nonfiction shelves of the library, and I am so glad I did. I knew Susan Branch’s art, but nothing about her life and I read this in a day and a half, I couldn’t stop turning the pages. The art is, of course, beautiful, but the honesty with which she told her story was so sincere, I felt like I was right there with her. Her reflections on the past — both her personal life and life in America at the time are so thoughtful. I can’t wait to get my hands on her other two memoirs.

What I’m Reading & Listening to Now:

Reading: Martha’s Vineyard, Isle of Dreams (Susan Branch’s Memoirs #2) by Susan Branch

Listening: Beyond the Kingdoms (The Land of Stories #4) by Chris Colfer

BIG Book Slow But Steady: The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough (just starting as my August big book read)

Week in Review: 

It was a busy one with the wrap up of The Lightning Thief – it was excellent! And then company in town and such hot weather. I did get to see friends for ice cream. And our washer died so we had to get a new one, which just arrived this Saturday morning. So much laundry now to do. Today begins the week of birthday celebrations (my birthday is the 5th and my husband the 7th). We started today with lunch with family and a wonderful birthday cake. 

Something I’m Looking Forward To:

This week we will spread out the birthday celebrations with a variety of outings and special treats. I bought myself a pair of Happy Birthday earrings and I plan to wear them all week!
