Weekly Reads Round Up: Favorite Read of the Week

A Fine Romance: Falling in Love with the English Countryside (Susan Branch’s Memoirs #3) by Susan Branch – I feel so lucky that I stumbled upon Susan Branch’s memoirs this summer while browsing the library nonfiction shelves. All three books were five star reads. This was the perfect escape to read this week when I felt so tired after going back to school. Such lovely drawings paired with descriptive text. I felt like I was in England with Susan. So many hearts.
What I’m Reading & Listening to Now:

Reading: They Call Me No Sam! (No Sam! #1) by Drew Daywalt, Mike Lowery (Illustrator)
Listening: The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency (No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency #1) by Alexander McCall Smith
BIG Book Slow But Steady: The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough FINISHED! All 692 pages!
Week in Review:
Week 1 back to school is in the books and everyone had a good report. It’s such an adjustment to go from lazy days of summer to full school days, so we are happy to be taking it easy this weekend. The day before school started we did take a small outing to a Route 66 museum nearby. It was so interesting. I was able to finish The Thorn Birds this week which felt like a big accomplishment.
Something I’m Looking Forward To:
Classes start in the library this week! Can’t wait to see more readers. I have a quiet week outside of school, so I’m hoping to get a lot of reading in. My big book for September is North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell.
