Top Ten Tuesday February 13: Love

Welcome to the Top Ten Tuesday post. Top Ten Tuesday is hosted at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is Love, in honor of Valentine’s Day tomorrow!

For years I have read romance as my comfort reads. Starting last spring I suddenly found myself not enjoying romance titles as much. It was so unusual for me. So instead of continuing to force myself to read books I wasn’t enjoying, I went on a romance pause.

This summer I did a deep dive into what tropes were in the romance books I had loved (Romance Tropes: Which Tropes Work For You?) and that offered some great insight.

Overwhelmingly the Enemies to Lovers was the winner followed closely behind by Grumpy Meets Sunshine (which could be considered very similar to Enemies to Lovers) and Fate Dating. Thanks to this “scientific study,” I’ve snuck in a few romances that have worked–especially romantic comedies.

This is a long-winded way to say… instead of a traditional book list featuring romance reads perfect for the Valentine season, I’ve decided to put together a list of the top ten authors I love!

Love is love, right? However you celebrate and however and whatever you read, I hope you have a lovely week!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

  1. I have only read the top two authors on your list, Deanna Raybourn and Jenn McKinlay, both awesome authors. I do have books by Elinor Lipman, Fiona Davis and Jennifer Ryan on my TBR that I hope to get to. I’ve heard good things about Kim Michele Richardson’s The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek. And Jerry Craft’s books always catch my eye when I’m a the bookstore. I haven’t tried his books though. This is a great list. I like your twist on the topic!

About Me

Welcome! I started my career as a children’s librarian, later becoming a public library director and now I’m a stay at home mom. While my career might have changed, my love of reading has been a constant since I was in 4th grade, and I read over 200 books a year. I love talking about books and connecting readers of all ages with just the right book. Thanks for reading!
