Book Review: Maid for Murder by Polly Holmes

Fans of the Melting Pot Cafe Mysteries by Polly Holmes will be excited to get their hands on Maid for Murder as it is a prequel novella to the new paranormal cozy mystery series, PAWS – Police Agency for Witches and Shifters, a spinoff from the popular Melting Pot Café Mysteries.

In this quick, fast-paced, magical mystery Evelyn has won a weekend away at Breawood Manor, a luxury manor house spa and hotel. She brings her best friend Jordi along and the two are looking forward to a relaxing weekend of pampering. Not long into their stay, however, they encounter the maid Ebony acting suspicious. Not ones to cower, they confront Ebony only to learn she’s here undercover investigating the owner of the manor. They agree to help Ebony, but also to continue their relaxing trip. Unfortunately, Jordi finds a dead body by the hotel’s natural spring and she and Evelyn find themselves knee deep in an investigation.

In only 138 pages, Polly Holmes takes readers through a page-turning mystery with humor, magic and tension sprinkled throughout. It has everything you want in a mystery–including stolen jewels! And the ending had a delightful twist the readers are sure to love. I look forward to reading more in this new series!

About Me

Welcome! I started my career as a children’s librarian, later becoming a public library director and now I’m a stay at home mom. While my career might have changed, my love of reading has been a constant since I was in 4th grade, and I read over 200 books a year. I love talking about books and connecting readers of all ages with just the right book. Thanks for reading!
