Weekly Reads Round Up: Favorite ReadS of the Week
I’m thankful that I’ve been able to do a lot of reading so I thought it would be fun to share a few I especially enjoyed:

Moonlight Murder (Detective Aunty Investigates #2) by Uzma Jalaluddin (I love Uzma’s writing and adored book one in this series and I’m happy report book two is just as good. These are excellent on audio. Kausar Khan (Detective Aunty) reminds of Maisie Dobbs. While this isn’t a historical mystery, Kausar is so calm and thoughtful and careful.)
Mrs. Tim Carries On (Mrs. Tim #3) by D.E. Stevenson (With her husband stationed in France, Hester finds plenty to keep her busy on the Home Front. Originally published in 1941, I am just enthralled by this series and reading Mrs. Tim’s diary. It’s at times funny and others a little bitter-sweet and always entertaining. It’s such a slice-of life kind of book and I can’t get enough.)
Max in the House of Spies: A Tale of World War II (Operation Kinderspion #1) by Adam Gidwitz (my soon to be 7th grader recommended this to me and I am so glad he did! This is historical fiction/adventure/magical realism which might sound like an odd combo, but it works. So well. I could not put this down–it’s intense when it needs to be intense and silly at the perfect moments. AND it ends on a MASSIVE cliffhanger which the 7th grader did not mention so thankfully book two is waiting for me at the library.)
What I’m Reading & Listening to Now:

Reading: Limelight by Andrew Keenan-Bolger (My 15 year old is reading this because it was selected as the June title for The Outsiders Book Club. I am 90 pages in and am loving it.)
Listening: It Happened One Murder by Liz Lawson
BIG Book Slow But Steady: Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry (page 113, chapter 10, I have a reading schedule and my goal is to complete by Thursday July 9)
Week in Review:
We were out of town last weekend and had a nice time! We stayed in a cabin about two hours away that had a pool and a pond on the property. We swam, read, played games and watched movies. While we were out, my eldest went to NYC with her theater group and had an amazing time.

We all got home Monday, and I got my first shingles shot. While I’m slightly under 50, I have had shingles before so the doctor recommended I do this. I did not feel great the next day, but I’m happy to check shot one of two off my list. I have been swimming in laundry and working on some final reports for grant applications.
It has been so hot here during the week which has me sitting under a fan – even the dogs are sluggish. This weekend my son has a birthday party to attend, my daughter is dog sitting and then we hope to investigate a new to us indie bookstore and get ice cream.
Something I’m Looking Forward To:
Next week we have a few appointments and hopefully a few cooler temps.
