I post reviews on Instagram and Goodreads. What have you read this week?

Planes, Candy Canes, and Hearses: a Cookies & Chance Mysteries novella, book #14.5 by Catherine Bruns

About the Book:

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas for Sally Muccio. The part-time sleuth and full-time baker is up to her elbows in sugar and a puzzling mystery that threatens to ruin her jolly holiday…

As Sal and her good friend Josie prepare to close their bakery to enjoy Christmas Eve, as well as Sal’s daughter’s birthday, a last-minute sojourn to the airport interferes. Sal mistakenly thinks this will be a quick outing to pick up her father from a business trip. But with the weather outside frightful, and her delightful father nowhere to be found, her fears quickly begin to escalate.

Where is Domenic Muccio, and why isn’t he answering his phone? And who is the mysterious companion he was seen leaving the airport with? If Sal doesn’t find her father soon, no one will be rocking around the Christmas tree.

Includes a delicious recipe for candy cane cookies!

My Review: Look for my review coming soon on Kings River Life.

Week in Review:

For a short work week, it still has felt rather like a long week. I worked an extra day Tuesday to help with coverage, and while Wednesday was a day off, I ran my daughter around to appointments. Thanksgiving was lovely at my in-laws house, and our dairy free pumpkin pie was amazing. We used this recipe. We made a start on decorations today. My husband’s back is bothering him so some plans have had to be rearranged. We also had our first snowfall of the season today.

Something I’m Looking Forward To:

Is it too soon to say Christmas break? 😉 I am participating in a holiday card exchange with an online cozy mystery group, and I have already received two adorable cards. I am finishing up mine and hope to drop in the mail Monday. I participated in one for Valentine’s Day and was honestly surprised how much joy it brought me. I really do need to be better about adding in things to look forward to, even small tiny things.

  2. You have some cozy Christmas reading to look forward to! Yesterday was definitely a good day to start some decorating. I think I will get to some today while the snow is still looking pretty in my backyard.

  3. Planes, Candy Canes, and Hearses sounds like a good read, I’ve made all my desserts dairy free for 25 years – my husband is allergic to whey. I do enjoy getting new recipes. Thanks for the link!

  4. Your cozy’s look like fun titles for the holiday season. Christmas cards are rare these days so an organised swap is a lovely idea.

  5. It is fun to read the blurbs for a cozy mystery! The blurb for Planes, Candy Canes, and Hearses sounds especially promising.

I like the idea of a Christmas card exchange. There is something lovely about getting handwritten cards in the mail.

  6. I love the pic of you trying to be a ray of sunshine. I’m not thinking of Christmas yet. Though do have two events, one to get ready for and one to plan.
