Weekly Reads Round Up: Favorite Read of the Week

Something from the Oven: Reinventing Dinner in 1950s America by Laura Shapiro – I do not remember how I learned about this fascinating book, but I’m so glad I did. This is both a culinary history and a history of popular culture following WWII. I didn’t know much about the history of the food industry and I couldn’t put this down. I also wasn’t aware of many of the female figures who were a part of the food industry. I have a list of names I’d like to learn more about now. 

What I’m Reading & Listening to Now:

Reading: Stillmeadow Daybook (Stillmeadow #5) by Gladys Taber

Listening: Lady Tremaine by Rachel Hochhauser

BIG Book Slow But Steady: A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses #3) by Sarah J. Maas (page 77 out of 699, I decided North and South was a not right now book) 

Week in Review: 

We enjoyed an extra day off on Monday. Regular school week with after school activities beginning. I had one evening meeting and one doctor’s appointment. Tonight is book club which is always a good time.

Something I’m Looking Forward To:

Our neighbor got new kittens and we will be helping to care for them this week – they are adorable. Next weekend is a local festival with crafts and foods and we always try to go. Maybe it won’t be so hot, although it looks like we are in for really warm temps Tuesday through Thursday.
